Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang on Monday afternoon asked district authorities and relevant agencies to continue their efforts to raise public awareness of COVID-19 infection prevention and control guidance from the municipal government with a focus on using vivid visual supports to help people to understand more about how to stay safe from coronavirus by taking precautionary actions.

Secretary Quang urged Son Tra District authorities to keep their residents informed about positive cases in their local areas in order to prompt them to show their willingness to take action to protect themselves and others from COVID-19. The heed must be paid on ensuring the provision of essential goods for people in local lockdown areas, Mr Quang emphasized.

“Police must take effective control in order to provide a smooth, orderly flow of traffic for truck vehicles travelling on Ngo Quyen Street to the Tien Sa Port for loading and unloading of goods. The Department of Industry and Trade must work with retailers to bring their goods to residential settings in a bid to limit the movement of people in light of delta variant," requested Secretary Quang.

Municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh said that Da Nang saw a decrease in COVID-19 infections on Monday but Son Tra District remains 'very high risk' environment for COVID transmission.

“In recent days, there has been a rise in new cases which are primary close contacts to be susequently found to have COVID-19. It is necessary for districts, especially the worst-hit Son Tra District, to tighten controls at designated quarantine facilities and local lockdown areas, as well as to step up testing efforts for people in high-risk settings to allow positive cases caught in an attempt to curb the spread of the virus, thereby gradually reducing daily COVID-19 infections in Da Nang. In addition, the focus should be enhancing the surveillance of market stallholders in local areas to effectively manage the risk of COVID-19”, Chairman Chinh directed.

The city government leader demanded the Department of Industry and Trade to receive 17 tons of vegetables and fruits and 5 tons of rice supported by Quang Nam Province’s Dai Loc District today, August 10. The high priority must be given to offering food aid to ring-fencing COVID-19 hotspots across the city and the 5 local lockdown wards in Son Tra District, said Chairman Chinh.

Da Nang on Monday, August 9, conducted COVID-19 testing for 62,087 people, of whom, 60,928 got RT-PCR tests, the Da Nang Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control’s latest figure shows.

Also on Monday, fines of VND 208 million were imposed on 31 people for breaking the city’s COVID-19 rules. In total, over VND 1.64 billion worth of fines have been levied on 682 violators of the city’s COVID-19 restrictions.
