Another 204,354 AstraZeneca vaccine doses arrive in Da Nang

Da Nang has received another 204,354 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine from the Ministry of Health, Doctor Ton That Thanh, the Director of the municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention announced Thursday afternoon.

The administration of AstraZeneca vaccine for 92,000 eligible people is being rolled out in Da Nang from September 8-11. The health sector will continue to roll out mass vaccination programme to administer the freshly-distributed COVID-19 vaccine doses to adult population in the city.

Doctor Tran Thanh Thuy, the Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Health, said that the department is developing a plan for the next phase of the city’s vaccination drive. All people who are helping the city’s fight against COVID-19 will be first to receive the jab along with members of management boards of apartment buildings and residential groups, hospital patients and those working in essential services.

The health sector will prioritize people aged from 18 to under 65 in the most densely populated areas and alleys in Son Tra, Ngu Hanh Son, Lien Chieu and Hoa Vang districts, and they will all be among the first to receive the vaccines.

More than 35,000 people in alleys and crowded residential areas in Hai Chau, Thanh Khe and Cam Le districts have been vaccinated from September 6-9.

As of September 9, a total of 543,956 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been distributed in Da Nang. 296,536 doses have been till date administered in the city, of which 239,261 people have received the first dose, 57,275 others have got their second shot.
