Coast Guard Zone 2 rescue distressed fishermen at sea
Thirteen Da Nang fishermen drifting in a distressed boat in the South East of Ly Son Island have been rescued by Viet Nam’s Coast Guard Zone 2.

They were picked up by the coast guards after spotting the distress boat about 17 nautical miles southeast of Ly Son Island. The men were in the drifting boat after fishing net had become entangled around their propeller and their boat then had been drifted by large waves whilst anchoring in an area in Dong An Hai Village’s waters, Ly Son island District, Quang Ngai province.
After nearly 6 hours of searching, the Coast Guard ship 8002 of Viet Nam’s Coast Guard Zone 2 reached the distressed fishing boat DNa 0494 from Da Nang at 1:30am on Sunday, September 12, and rescued 13 crew members amid dark night, high waves and rainy weather.
On the same day, the Coast Guard ship 8002 also rescued 5 crew members of the fishing boat QNg 95058TS from Quang Ngai Province after their boat had been sunk by storm Conson.

At 6 a.m. on September 12, all distressed fishermen were brought back to the mainland safely and the fishing boat DNa 0494 was towed back.
