Both Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang and municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh on Friday afternoon affirmed that Da Nang has basically brought the COVID-19 outbreak under control after it has gone into lockdown under tougher coronavirus measures for nearly 20 days.

Also present at the meeting of the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 prevention and control on Friday was Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Son, Deputy Minister of Public Security.

Mr Quang said that the Da Nang government has decided to ease some of its COVID-19 restrictions from 8:00am on September 5 based on the assessment of the COVID-19 situation in the city after 20 days of tougher COVID-19 curbs. Da Nang citizens will see the changes in COVID-19 restrictions from September 5 with different rules and restrictions to be adopted in red, yellow and green zones.

The city Party Chief also said that the coronavirus is not going to go away so we must learn to live with it. He stated that the COVID-19 situation can change at any time, meaning Da Nang’s COVID-19 restrictions could change as the risk of COVID-19 resurgence remains high in the city.

More stringent measures will be immediately re-imposed on Da Nang citizens following a rise in cases, or further COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted following a sharp drop in cases, Mr Quang remarked.

Secretary Quang directed the COVID-19 taskforce to implement stronger enforcement of COVID-19 rules in residential settings as well as increase patrols on streets in a bid to take action against COVID-19 rule violators and issue stiff penalties to them. He called for tougher action to prevent the spread of the virus after the city enters the new phase of its battle against the deadly disease with some of its COVID-19 restrictions lifted.

Municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh called on authorities at local level to continue their efforts to implement effectively COVID-19 control measures. The heed must be paid on taking more drastic measures to curb virus spread in high-risk areas through beefing up testing efforts to allow positive cases caught, Mr Chinh emphasized.

The Da Nang government leader highlighted need to keep the public informed about the changes in COVID-19 restrictions after September 5 in an attempt to ensure their strict compliance with new regulations.

Mr Chinh is calling on every one across Da Nang to have a part to play in the city’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic, and work together with the municipal government to help bring the life in the city to return to normal as soon as possible.
