Da Nang leader calls for more drastic action to contain the spread of COVID-19

During his meeting with members of the Da Nang COVID-19 Monitoring Committee on Wednesday afternoon, municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh called on authorities at local level to take more drastic measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Mr Chinh stressed the need to take immediate action to trace all close contacts of each identified case and move quickly to stamp out new outbreaks in Hai Chau, Lien Chieu and Hoa Vang districts.

The Da Nang leader asked authorities at local level and relevant agencies to roll out the ‘One door – One test’ campaign for 50% of the families across the city from today, September 23, in a safe and effective manner.

Mr Chinh highlighted need to give high priority to taking more proactive and decisive steps to contain COVID-19 regardless of the measures to be adopted in the city when transitioning to the new normal.

He also asked police and relevant agencies to impose strict fines on violators who are drivers of vehicles to be allowed to travel under green lane to Dang Nang for staying in the city beyond the authorized period.

Doctor Ton That Thanh, the Director of the municipal Centre for Disease Control and Prevention said that 15,496 people on September 22 got tested for COVID-19, of whom, 13,237 got PCR tests while 2,259 underwent rapid-antigen tests. A total of 9 drivers of vehicles have found positive at entry points in Da Nang after rapid-antigen tests were made mandatory for them.
