Da Nang reports 35 COVID-19 cases on Sept. 9, including 4 detected in the community

Da Nang confirmed 35 COVID-19 cases on Thursday, September 9, of which, 14 were in found in the city’s designated quarantine facilities, 14 were self-isolating at home, 3 were identified in locked down areas and the remaining 4 were found in the community.

In particular, out of the community cases, one was a driver employed by the Men Hoa Trading Co., Ltd located on Me Linh Street in the Expanded Hoa Khanh Industrial Park, Lien Chieu District. He was detected via a rapid antigen test whilst travelling through the Hoa Lien checkpoint. The source of infection has remained unknown.

The remaining 3 were detected via the ongoing the ‘one door- one test’ campaign with testing applied to household representatives across the city, residing in Tan Chinh Ward, Thanh Khe District. These patients belong to a family whose representative tested negative for the coronavirus on August 28.

Currently, there are 2 main infection chains at a high risk of further COVID-19 spread, namely the infection cluster linked to the ‘one door- one test’ campaign with 16 cases documented on Thursday and another one comprising direct COVID-19 contacts who tested positive for the virus following their stay in the city’s designated quarantine facilities with 11 new cases logged on the same day.

Amongst the local districts, Thanh Khe recorded the highest number of 14, followed by Cam Le with 13 and Son Tra with 1. Notably, Ngu Hanh Son and Lien Chieu saw no new positive case today.

Currently, there are 18 out of the total 56 wards and communes across the city without community-acquired cases for 14 consecutive days, namely the communes of Hoa Bac, Hoa Khuong, Hoa Tien, Hoa Phu, Hoa Lien, Hoa Nhon and Hoa Phong in Hoa Vang District, the wards of An Hai Bac, Man Thai, An Hai Tay, Phuoc My, Nai Hien Dong and Tho Quang in Son Tra District, Hoa Quy Ward in Ngu Hanh Son District, and the Phuoc Ninh, Nam Duong and Hai Chau 1 wards in Hai Chau District, and Hoa Khe Ward in Thanh Khe District.

The city’s COVID-19 infection tally in the ongoing wave has hit 4,500 since July 10.
