Da Nang to open up COVID-19 vaccinations to 18-65 year olds from Sept. 15

The Da Nang Health Department announced on Monday that Da Nang will open up COVID-19 vaccinations to those aged between 18 and 65 years old from September 15 as it tries to ramp up its immunisation drive.

As part of increasing the vaccination roll-out programme, the Da Nang government has approved the vaccination of persons aged from 18 -65 years old from September 15.

A total of 192,201 eligible people in Da Nang will get first shot of Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine from September 15 -21 under the city’s historic vaccine rollout as part of the city’s overall strategy to successfully tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.

Employees working at private clinics, those who are helping the city’s fight against COVID-19 and members of steering committees of COVID-19 prevention and control at all levels will be among beneficiaries along with staff of media agencies, employees in businesses. High priority will be given to people working in businesses with a large number of employees, and businesses involving communicating with customers as well as offering essential services.

In addition, the health sector will administer the COVID-19 vaccine to those working in transportation services, pharmacists working at pharmacies and drugstores, staff of banks, and utility companies providing natural gas, electricity, water, sewage, and other basic necessities for both residential and commercial properties, stallholders at wet markets, transaction staff at supermarkets and large stores, owners of grocery stores, restaurant and eateries and those working in other essential services, including barbershops and hair salons, shops offering home appliance repair service.

The health sector is prioritising to administer COVID-19 vaccines to teaching staff at schools and centers under the management of the municipal Department of Education and Training, staff of people's committees at district level, the poor, social policy beneficiaries, and people in the most densely populated areas. High priority will be given to people in crowded residential settings, apartment buildings, alleys, and green zones.

Workers at construction sites, employees at administrative agencies, family members of healthcare workers at public and private hospitals will be among the first to receive the jab.

The vaccinations will be carried out in following vaccination centres: the Tien Son Sports Arena, the Thanh Khe District Sports and Culture House, the Huynh Thuc Khang Junior High School, the Tran Quoc Tuan Junior High School, the Tran Quang Khai Junior High School, the Son Tra District Sports and Culture House, the Nguyen Chi Thanh Junior High School, the To Vinh Dien Primary School,  the Da Nang International Exhibition Fair Centre, the Ngu Hanh Son District Sports and Culture House, the Cam Le District Sports and Culture House, the Tran Dai Nghia Junior High School, the Student Hall of Residence in the west of the city in the west of the city, the Duc Tuan Company located in the Hoa Khanh Industrial Park, and  the Cancer Hospital.

Besides, 10 hospitals are eligible for vaccination and will take the responsibility for administering COVID-19 vaccines to family members of medical workers. They are  the Da Nang General Hospital, the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, the Vinmec Hospital, the Hoan My Hospital, the Tam Tri Hospital, the Family Hospital, the C Hospital Da Nang, the Police Hospital 199, the Military Hospital 17, the Transport Hospital.
