During his meeting on Tuesday afternoon with members of the Da Nang Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, municipal Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang remarked that another 400,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines will be distributed in the city in the coming time.

Mr Quang urged the health agency and relevant agencies to take all reasonable measures to roll out the city’s mass vaccination program in safest and most effective practices in order to make sure that all eligible people in Da Nang will receive lifesaving vaccines. This will help the municipal administration to take appropriate measures to further ease COVID-19 restrictions.

Mr Quang highlighted need to instil public confidence in the effectiveness and safety of the vaccines. “The focus must be on educating the public about the development of vaccines showing high efficacy against SARS-CoV-2 which has offered a way to protect against the health effects of the virus. All COVID-19 vaccines delivered by the Ministry of Health are safe and effective, as well as highly effective in preventing serious disease, hospitalization and death from COVID-19”, the Da Nang top leader emphasized.

Secretary Quang said that the sooner the city achieves high immunization coverage, the sooner it can reopen more activities and services. He is calling on all people across Da Nang to show their willingness to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as their part to play in the city’s fight against the deadly disease.

Municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh warned that the risk of COVID-19 resurgence remains very high in Da Nang, especially in COVID-19 hotspots and locked down areas.

Mr Chinh directed authorities at local level, especially Thanh Khe and Cam Le districts, to strict follow the guidelines on infection prevention and control from the municipal government and health bodies.

The municipal government leader emphasized that mass testing and vaccination programmes are very important to the city to help it to successfully bring the COVID-19 outbreak under control.

Chairman Chinh asked the health agency and relevant units to take all necessary measures to ensure that all eligible people in Da Nang receive at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine within September.
