Da Nang recorded 42 COVID-19 cases on Thursday, September 2, of which, 22 were in found in designated quarantine facilities, 6 were self-isolating at home, 12 were identified in locked down areas and the remaining 2 were detected in the community.

The total 2 community-acquired cases were detected via the ongoing the ‘one door- one test’ campaign with testing applied to household representatives in Cam Nam Village, Hoa Chau Commune, Hoa Vang District. One was a 67-year-old resident who had tested negative for the coronavirus four times, namely on August 18, 21, 24 and 28. The other was a 59-year-old dweller who had had negative test results on August 24 and 28, respectively.

The duo are of unknown sources of transmissions for the time being.

As calculated, the infection cluster linked to the ‘one door- one test’ campaign documented 20 cases on Thursday. Meanwhile, the infection chain at the already-shut-down Hoa Cuong Wholesale Market, the largest of its kind in Central Viet Nam, showed signs of subsiding with 12 cases detected on the same day. As assessed by the local healthcare sector, these 2 chains of infection are still at a high risk of further transmission, whilst others across the city have been controlled well till date.

Amongst the local districts, Hai Chau and Thanh Khe recorded the highest number of COVID-19 cases on the review day with 12 each, followed by Thanh Khe with 8, Cam Le with 4, Hoa Vang with 3, Son Tra with 2 and Ngu Hanh Son with 1

Currently, there are 10 out of the total 56 wards and communes across the city without community-acquired cases for 14 consecutive days, including Nam Duong and Phuoc Ninh wards in Hai Chau District, Hoa Khe Ward in Thanh Khe Districy, An Hai Bac, Man Thai, Nai Hien Dong wards in Son Tra and Hoa Bac, Hoa Khuong, Hoa Tien and Hoa Phu communes in Hoa Vang District.

The day's number has pushed the city’s tally in the ongoing wave since July 10 to 4,146.
