‘Won’t let anyone go hungry’

In late August, having heard that Nguyen Minh Tuan’s nuclear family, temporarily residing on Pham Nhu Xuong Street, Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District, ran out of food, the Hoa Khanh Nam Ward Youth Union chapter immediately gave fundings for his family for the purchase of essential items, even powdered milk, fresh milk and diapers for his young-age children.

A few days earlier, Hoa Khanh Nam Ward Youth Union chapter also encouraged the landlord to offer free-of-charge accommodation for the family of Mr Tran Van Thang, who has turned unemployed due to the pandemic, in addition to providing him with food and necessities.

During the tough days of practising the stay-at-home order, dozens of poor households citywide have been provided with free rice vermicelli, noodles, bread, and dumplings thanks to people's response to the movement of “good leaves help torn ones”.

These days, thanks to appeals made by Truong Van Luan and his son for public donations, residents in residential group No. 21, Hoa An Ward, Cam Le District have regularly received gifts hanging in front of their gate including bread, rice vermicelli or a bunch of green vegetables and fruits.

During the implementation of ‘stay-at-home’ mandates, Da Nang Association of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front at has actively mobilized  local resources to support those in need with the "support people as soon as receiving relief goods" motto. Therefore, Da Nang VFF has promptly distributed hundreds of tonnes of goods supported by units, businesses and localities to the total 7 districts to deliver to locals to ensure that people do not go hungry.

Many policies are pleasing to people

In addition to supporting resources, the Da Nang administration has deployed a variety of sales channels to fully meet the public demand for food. Notably, 30 mobile sales points have been deployed by the Da Nang Police to help locals access high-quality food sold at affordable prices.

In particular, the municipal People's Council has issued many important decisions related to COVID-19 prevention and control. Till date, many support policies are being implemented in a timely and transparent manner to the fully eligible people.

Till date, 50,651 social policy, poverty-stricken families and people who gave meritorious services to the national revolution across the city have accessed a total of over VND25 billion in aid from the municipal budget, with each receiving VND500,000.

Also, a total amount of over VND71 billion funded by the municipal budget has gone to local residents amid the financially tough times triggered by the COVID-19 wave.

Besides, 29,054 people who are members of the authorities of local residential groups apartment complexes and villages performing their COVID-19 prevention and control tasks have received one-time support of VND1 million per person.

Thanks to the thoughtful attention of the local authorities at all levels, the Da Nang people are not only encouraged physically but also spiritually. Thereby, it is understandable to see high public appreciation and gratitude for the municipal government's devoted care on social media during days of COVID-19 time.
