Da Nang records 8 cases of COVID-19 on Oct.20, including one in community

On October 20, Da Nang recorded 8 new cases of COVID-19, of which five were found during self-quarantine at home, two were detected at the city’s gateway checkpoints and the remaining one was logged in the community.

In detail, the only one community infection case involved a 48-year-old male real estate trader who returned home in Tan Chinh Ward, Thanh Khe District, Da Nang from coronavirus-stricken Ho Chi Minh City on VietJet flight 632 with seat No. D8, on October 14. 

Of special note, he has received 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccines, on July 7 and September 13 respectively. He was confirmed to be infected with the virus via a test conducted at home by the Thien Nhan clinic’s staff.

This man attended a funeral at 259 Le Duan Street from October 14 – 16.

The five cases were found during self-quarantine at home were the close contacts of this community-acquired patient.

There are two active cases detected at the quarantine checkpoints on Nam Ky Khoi Nghia route and the southern Hai Van bypass. The duo were drivers hailing from Ho Chi Minh City.

Regarding the pandemic situation in local district, Hai Chau recorded 3 new COVID-19 patients residing at 166/8 Hung Vuong and 201 Hoang Dieu, all of whom were related to the chain of infection logged at 259 Le Duan.

Thanh Khe District recorded 3 new cases staying at 259 Le Duan and at 18 Dao Duy Tu, also with links to the transmission cluster found at 259 Le Duan.

The city, currently, has 3 blockaded sites, putting 76 households with a combined total of 287 people under lockdown, namely at 166/8 Hung Vuong in Hai Chau 1 Ward, 201 Hoang Dieu in Nam Duong Ward) and at 259 Le Duan in Tan Chinh Ward.

Also on the same day, a combined total of 5, 688 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 4,078 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Today, Da Nang handled 128 returnees from other pandemic-struck localities nationwide, all of whom were put under mandatory quarantine in line with the regulations.

Currently, 44 returnees are undergoing mandatory quarantine at the local authorities- designated centralised facilities whilst 876 others are self-quarantining at home.

A combined total of 309 people are now subject to compulsory quarantine in 15 centralised facilities.

Up to now, 989, 583 out of the already received 1,007,856 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to Da Nang residents.

Of the vaccinated people through out Da Nang, 135,476 have received a full 2-dose course of COVID-19 vaccines.

Since July 10 when the current COVID-19 wave started in Da Nang, its caseload tally has stayed at 4,692
