One community infection among 4 new COVID-19 cases in Da Nang on Oct.28

One new COVID-19 case in the community was reported in Da Nang on Thursday, October 28, the municipal Steering Board for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said in its latest bulletin.

The community-acquired patient is a resident at K236 Phan Chau Trinh, Nam Duong Ward, Hai Chau District. He worked as a civil defense staffer on duty at quarantine checkpoint at the entrance to a blockaded area at K106 Huynh Thuc Khang.

According to epidemiological investigation, the man was exposed to a previously-confirmed patient who was linked to a transmission cluster at K259 Le Duan, Tan Chinh Ward, Thanh Khe District,

The newly-recorded community patient received 2 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine on August 13 and October 8, respectively.

He periodically tested negative for SARS-CoV-2. the corinavirus on October 20, 23 and 24.

Regarding his travel and contact history, at about 8:00am on October 26 and 27, the patient went to Mrs. Mai's ‘bun cha ca’ (rice noodles served with fish cake vermicelli) shop on Le Dinh Duong Street. At around 1:00pm on October 26, the patient came to Thao's pharmacy on Ong Ich Khiem Street).

There were also three cases found in managed isolation on Thursday, of which two were detected in the municipal authorities-designated centralised quarantine facilities.

The remaining one was a returnee from coronavirus-stricken HCM City. This person tested positive for the coronavirus via mandatory rapid antigen testing whilst passing through a checkpoint set up at the Da Nang gateway and he was confirmed to contract the virus after a confirmation test conducted by the RT-PCR technique.

Also on Thursday, Da Nang handled 74 returnees from other pandemic-struck localities nationwide, all of whom were put under mandatory quarantine in accordance with the regulations.

Currently, 32 returnees are undergoing mandatory quarantine at the local authorities- designated centralised facilities whilst 958 others are self-quarantining at home.

The city now has four blockaded sites, putting 56 households with a combined total of 198 people under lockdown. Of them, 79 residents belonging to 18 sealed-off families are logged in Hai Chau District, whilst the rest are identified in Thanh Khe District.

A combined total of 247 people are put under compulsory quarantine in nine centralised facilities.

Up to now, 1,010,963 out of the already received 1,124,856 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to Da Nang residents.

Of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 858,026 have received the first shots of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 152,937 have got the second jabs against the highly contagious disease.

In all, 4 coronavirus cases were reported on Thursday, taking Da Nang’s total to 4,713 since July 10 when the current COVID-19 wave started here.
