Da Nang recorded only one new COVID-19 case today, October 7, who was a driver testing positive for SARS-CoV-2 whilst passing through a quarantine checkpoint set up at the city’s gateway, the Da Nang Steering Board for COVID-19 Prevention and Control freshly confirmed.

No new community transmission case was recorded today.

Specifically, a 34-year-old male driver on the Da Nang - Ho Chi Minh City route, hailing from the neighbouring province of Quang Nam, had rapid antigen COVID-19 test done at a quarantine checkpoint on Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street, Ngu Hanh Son District, as part of the city’s mandatory screening campaign applied for all people entering Da Nang.

Upon the release of his positive SARS-CoV-2 rapid antigen test result, the driver was put under temporary isolation in Ngu Hanh Son District. Afterwards, another test conducted via the RT-PCR technique confirmed that the driver had contracted with the deadly virus.

During the same day, 7,389 people had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, of whom 6,145 tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to rapid antigen tests whilst entering the city through the city’s gateway checkpoints.

Currently, there are only 3 blockaded areas linked to previous COVID-19 cases, putting 78 households with a combined total of 301 residents under lockdown.

Till date, 53 out of the total 56 communes and wards citywide have been labelled as ‘green zones’ where neither community-acquired cases nor locked-down sites have been logged over the past 14 days as follow:

Hoa Vang District: the communes of Hoa Bac, Hoa Khuong, Hoa Tien, Hoa Phu, Hoa Lien, Hoa Nhon, Hoa Phong, Hoa Phuoc, Hoa Ninh, Hoa Chau and Hoa Son.

Son Tra District : the wards of An Hai Bac, Man Thai, An Hai Tay, Phuoc My, Nai Hien Dong, Tho Quang, and An Hai Dong.

Ngu Hanh Son District : the wards of Hoa Quy, Hoa Hai, My An and Khue My.

Cam Le District: the wards of Khue Trung, Hoa Tho Tay, Hoa Phat, Hoa Tho Dong, Hoa Xuan and Hoa An.

Lien Chieu District: the wards of Hoa Minh, Hoa Hiep Nam, Hoa Hiep Bac, Hoa Khanh Bac and Hoa Khanh Nam.

Hai Chau District : the wards of Phuoc Ninh, Nam Duong, Hai Chau 1, Hoa Cuong Nam, Binh Hien, Hoa Thuan Dong, Hoa Thuan Tay, Hoa Cuong Bac, Thach Thang, Hai Chau 2, and Thanh Binh

Thanh Khe District: the wards of Hoa Khe, Thanh Khe Dong, Thac Gian, Chinh Gian, Xuan Ha, Thanh Khe Tay, Tan Chinh, Vinh Trung and Tam Thuan.

Since July 10 when the current COVID-19 wave started in Da Nang, 4,675 active cases have been documented citywide.
