10 community infections amongst 26 new COVID-19 cases in Da Nang on Nov. 19

Da Nang recorded 26 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, November 19, ten of which were logged in the community, seven found in centralised quarantine facilities and the remaining nine detected during mandatory at-home quarantine, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control confirmed.

Below is need-to-know information on the ten community-based cases:

There were two community-acquired patients permanently residing in residential group No. 37, Vinh Trung Ward, Thanh Khe District, and both of them had exposed to a previously-confirmed case on Bau Hac 5 Street, Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District.

A native of Dong Da Street, Thach Thang Ward, Hai Chau District was confirmed to be infected with the virus. This person had come into close contact with a patient residing in the neighbouring  province of Quang Nam.

Two residents in Qua Giang 2 Village, Hoa Phuoc Commune, Hoa Vang District and on Da Son Street, Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District, respectively were diagnosed with the highly contagious disease caused by the coronavirus.

Two stall holders operating at the Mieu Bong Market contracted the virus following their exposure to an active case in Dong Hoa Village, Hoa Chau Commune, Hoa Vang District

Another two cases were logged on Pham Ngoc Mau Street, An Khe Ward, Thanh Khe District and Nguyen Phuoc Nguyen Street, An Khe Ward, Thanh Khe District were infected with the coronavirus following the displaying of some suspicious symptoms.

The last community transmission case was detected on Dien Bien Phu Street, Chinh Gian Ward, Thanh Khe District. The results of the epidemiological investigation showed that the patient had been previously exposed to an infected resident  in Quang Nam Province.

The cases recorded on Friday were linked 11chains of infection, seven of which are highly transmissible.

In particular, 16 out of the 26 cases of COVID-19 in were likely to spread to the community, recorded in five out of the total seven districts, Thanh Khe with 6 cases, Hoa Vang with four, Ngu Hanh Son with two, Hai Chau and  Lien Chieu with one each. 

In addition, there were two coronavirus-infected Quang Nam natives trading and working in Hoa Vang District.

Also on Friday, a combined total of 10,332 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 8,880 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Up to now, 1,450,389 out of the already received 1,512,916 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to Da Nang residents.

Of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 904,482 have received the first shots of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 545,907 have got the second jabs against the highly contagious disease.

There are currently 85 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 890 households with a combined total of 3,663 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 1,019 people are put under compulsory quarantine in 19 centralised facilities.

Da Nang has recorded 422 positive cases since October 16 when the current coronavirus wave started hitting it.
