11 community infections of COVID-19 among 32 new cases in Da Nang on Nov. 9

Da Nang recorded 32 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, November 9, 11 of which were found in the community, nine each in designated centralised quarantine facilities and at-home quarantine and one in a locked-down residential site and two at quarantine checkpoints set up at the city’s gateways, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control confirmed.

Here is need-to-know information on the 11 community cases:

Three out of the 11 community- acquired patients are  medical staffers working at the private An Duc clinic based in Lien Chieu District. The trio were detected through periodic COVID-19 testing activities carried out here.

They are residents on Nguyen Luong Bang Street, Hoa Hiep Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District, in the social apartment No. E1, Hoa Hiep Bac ward, Lien Chieu District, at K43 Doan Phu Tu, Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District, respectively.

There were also three community cases found at K59 Luong The Vinh, An Hai Bac Ward, Son Tra District. All of them came to the Da Nang-based 199 Hospital under the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 here. Epidemiological investigation revealed that the trio had previous exposure to a previously-confirmed active case.

Another active case involves a male resident at K240 Nui Thanh, Hoa Cuong Bac Ward, Hai Chau District. He was a truck driver from the southern coronavirus-stricken province of Binh Duong. The man tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 via a rapid antigen test at the An Duc clinic.

There was an infected man residing on Nuoc Man 5 Street, Khue My Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District. He was confirmed to be infected with the virus via a test at the 199 Hospital following the displaying of some suspicious symptoms. Epidemiological investigation results showed that the patient was linked to the highly transmissible infection cluster at 103 Nguyen Trung Truc Street, An Hai Bac Ward, Son Tra District.

A resident on Le Phung Hieu Street, An Hai Bac Ward, Son Tra District was diagnosed with COVID-19 via the ongoing mass testing applied to household representatives, also known as ‘ One door- One test’ campaign. The patient was exposed to the infection chain at 103 Nguyen Trung Truc.

A dweller at K257 Tran Hung Dao, An Hai Bac Ward, Son Tra District was identified as an comminuty- based patient. This case was documented via the ongoing mass testing applied to all of the owners of food and beverage service businesses citywide.

The last community-acquired case is a man from residential group No.17, Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, having returned to Da Nang from other province. He tested positive for the virus via a test conducted at the private Tam Tri Hospital based in Cam Le District.

Amongst the current eight infection clusters citywide, that found at 103 Nguyen Trung Truc, An Hai Bac Ward, Son Tra District has recorded seven cases on the day, bringing its total infection 43 till date.

Of special note, 22 out of the total 32 cases of COVID-19 logged on Tuesday are at risk of further community transmission, concentrated in four out of the seven districts in the city, namely Son Tra, Lien Chieu, Ngu Hanh Son and Hai Chau.

In particular, Son Tra recorded the highest infections today, with 19 cases.

The district-level authorities have set up 39 completely blockaded areas, putting 464 households with a combined total of 1,945 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 1,153 people are put under compulsory quarantine in 13 centralised facilities.
Da Nang’s COVID-19 infection tally has till date reached 4,851 since July 10 when the current COVID-19 wave started here.
