5 community cases of COVID-19, 13 in managed isolation in Da Nang on Nov. 7
Da Nang recorded 18 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, November 7, five of them were found in the community, nine in designated centralised quarantine facilities, and two each at locked-down residential sites and quarantine checkpoints set up at the city’s gateways, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said in its latest bulletin.
Below is key information on the five community infections:
The first patient is a man residing in Thach Thang Ward, Hai Chau District. He came to the Da Nang-based 199 Hospital under the Ministry of Security for examinations due to the displaying of some suspicious and he tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 here.
One of his family members had previously returned from coronavirus-stricken Ho Chi Minh City with a negative test result for the virus.
The second is a woman from Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District. She came to the 199 Hospital for COVID-19 testing.
The infection source of the two aforementioned patients has remained unknown till date.
The third is a male resident in Thanh Binh Ward, Hai Chau District, working as a nurse in the Screening Department of the Cam Le District-based private Tam Tri Da Nang Hospital.
The remaining ones are residents from the wards of An Hai Bac and Nai Hien Dong, Son Tra District, respectively. Both of them came for COVID-19 testing at the 199 Hospital 199.
Epidemiological investigation results showed that the duo were related to the infection cluster at 103 Nguyen Trung Truc, An Hai Bac Ward, Son Tra District.
All of the new cases logged across the city on Sunday belong to six infection chains which are at a high risk of further spreading.
In particular, the infection cluster found at 103 Nguyen Trung Truc, An Hai Bac Ward, Son Tra District has recorded eight cases on the day, bringing its total infection 26.
The infection cluster on Nguyen Cong Tru, Son Tra District has documented four new cases on the same day. As accumulated till date, 19 cases have been recorded.
Since October 20, Da Nang has logged 31 patients who were returnees from other pandemic-hit cities and provinces.
For the time being, five out of the total seven districts in Da Nang are witnessing active coronavirus cases with a risk of further community transmission, namely Son Tra with 4 cases, Hai Chau and Lien Chieu with two each, Thanh Khe and Ngu Hanh Son with one each.
Regarding the newly recorded cases, the district-level authorities have set up 26 completely blockaded areas, putting 292 households with a combined total of 1,188 people under lockdown.
On the same day, Da Nang received 152 returnees from other pandemic-struck localities nationwide.
Currently, 18 returnees are undergoing mandatory quarantine at the local authorities- designated centralised facilities, three are under managed isolation at medical facilities and 599 are self-quarantining at home.
A combined total of 808 people are put under compulsory quarantine in 13 centralised facilities.
Da Nang’s COVID-19 infection tally has till date reached 4,798 since July 10 when the current COVID-19 wave started here.
