On Friday evening, police in Da Nang invited 6 Facebook account owners for questioning in a probe focused on the dissemination of coronavirus fake news on social media.

Earlier, in the evening of November 4, a fake document about the suspension of dine-in services at eating and drinking establishments across Da Nang was widely shared on social networks.

Police in the city confirmed that the aforementioned document is forged, with the issuance date of the document and the date for suspension of dine-in services having been edited.

The wrong information has caused confusion amongst the public, as well as has fostered their anxiety and affected the adherence to COVID-19 preventive measures in the city.

Local police advise social network users to carefully check and verify sources of news before posting or sharing them in order to avoid the spread of false information on social media.

Currently, local police are continuing to conduct investigations of those who intentionally forge documents of State agencies in order to strictly handle them in accordance with the Vietnamese laws.
