Da Nang recorded 13 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, November 11, four of which were found in the community, five in the city-designated centralised quarantine facilities, and two each during mandatory at-home quarantine and at locked-down residential sites, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control confirmed.

Below is need-to-know information on the four community-based cases:

The first community patient logged on Thursday was resident dwelling on Nguyen Huu Tho Street, Hoa Thuan Tay Ward, Hai Chau District. The person was diagnosed with COVID-19 via the ongoing mass testing applied to household representatives, also known as ‘One door- One test’ campaign. Her source of infection has not been identified till date.

The second was a dweller on Le Chan Street, Nai Hien Dong Ward, Son Tra District. He went in-person to the Nai Hien Dong Ward Medical Station for COVID-19 testing following the display of some suspicious symptoms and received the positive rest result. The patient was linked to the previously-discovered infection cluster found on Nai Nghia 7 Street, Nai Hien Dong Ward.

The third was a man staying on Dang Dinh Van Street, Thanh Khe Dong Ward, Thanh Khe District. He drove en route from Lao Bao in the central province of Quang Tri to the Tien Sa Port, Da Nang. He went in-person to Cam Le District-based private Tam Tri Da Nang General Hospital for COVID-19 testing following the showcasing of some suspicious symptoms.

The last one was a resident at K325 Hung Vuong, Vinh Trung Ward, Thanh Khe District, and his infection was detected via the ‘One door- One test’ campaign. This patient was related to the previously- recorded chain of infection on Nai Thinh 2 Street, Nai Hien Dong Ward, Son Tra District.

The cases recorded on Thursday were related to six infection chains and all of them are assessed to be at a high risk of further spreading.

Of special note, eight out of the total 13 active cases are at risk of further community transmission, concentrated in three out of the seven districts in the city, namely Son Tra, Thanh Khe and Hai Chau.

There are currently 51 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 511 households with a combined total of 2,199 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 1,361 people are put under compulsory quarantine in 18 centralised facilities.

On the same day, a combined total of 45,630 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 43,780 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.
