Da Nang COVID-19 daily caseload hits 37, including 7 acquired in community on Nov. 17

Da Nang recorded 37 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, November 17, seven of which were found in the community, five in centralised quarantine facilities, and nine during mandatory at-home quarantine and 15 in locked-down residential sites and the remaining one at a quarantine checkpoint set up at the city’s gateway, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control confirmed.

Below is need-to-know information on the seven community-based cases:

The first case was a resident on Dang Nhu Mai Street, Hoa An Ward, Cam Le District, having tested positive for the virus at the Hoa Khanh clinic following the showcasing of some suspicious symptoms. This person had been exposed to a previously-confirmed case

The second was found in a residential site located on Liem Hac 3 Street, Hoa Xuan Ward, Cam Le District, working at the Chau Thanh Company in Hoa Chau Commune, Hoa Vang District. This person intentionally went to Cam Le District-based private Tam Tri Da Nang Hospital and tested positive for the virus there.

The third was acquired in Dong Hoa Village, Hoa Chau Commune, Hoa Vang District, having  been confirmed to be infected with the virus via a test at the private Y Duc Clinic.

The fourth was a resident on Bui Ta Han Street, Khue My Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, working for Dope Beer.

The fifth was an employee of the Huu Nghi Company where an active case of COVID-19 had been previously detected.

The seventh was a dweller on Vu Van Dung Street, An Hai Tay Ward, Son Tra District. This person came to the Da Nang-located 199 Hospital 199 under the Ministry of Public Security for COVID-19 testing following the displaying of some suspicious symptoms.

The community-acquired case was logged on To Hien Thanh Street, Phuoc My Ward, Son Tra District. This patient tested positive for the virus at the Da Nang Family Hospital following his recent contact with an active case of coronavirus.

The cases recorded on Wednesday were linked to 13 high-risk chains of infection., of which five have been brought under control whilst the rest were highly transmissible.

In particular, 24 out of the 37 cases of COVID-19 in were likely to spread to the community, recorded in five out of  the total seven districts, namely Hoa Vang with ten cases, Ngu Hanh Son, Cam Le and Son Tra with four each and Thanh Khe with two. 

Also on Wednesday, a combined total of 12,158 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 10, 488 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

There are currently 74 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 842 households with a combined total of 3,463 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 1,132people are put under compulsory quarantine in 19 centralised facilities.

Up to now, 1,419,768 out of the already received 1,511,206 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to Da Nang residents.

Of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 903, 622 have received the first shots of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 516,146 have got the second jabs against the highly contagious disease.

Da Nang has recorded 370 positive cases since October 16 when the current coronavirus wave started hitting it.
