Da Nang COVID-19 daily count stands at 26, including 8 in community on Nov. 18

Da Nang recorded 26 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, November 18, eight of which were logged in the community, five found in centralised quarantine facilities, 11 during mandatory at-home quarantine and one each in a locked-down residential site and a quarantine checkpoint set up at the city’s gateway, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control confirmed.

Below is need-to-know information on the eight community-based cases:

There were two community-acquired patients permanently residing in Thach Thang and Hai Chau 1 wards respectively, Hai Chau District. The duo had previously returned to Da Nang from Ho Chi Minh City.

A native of Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District was confirmed to be infected with the virus following his return from the southern province of Ninh Thuan.

There were two patients living in the same house in residential group No.4, Mieu Bong, Hoa Phuoc Commune, Hoa Vang District. Both of them were linked to the previously-found infection cluster in Dong Hoa Village, Hoa Chau Commune, Hoa Vang District

Two residents on Nguyen Dinh Street, Phuoc My Ward, Son Tra District were diagnosed with the highly contagious diseased caused by the coronavirus.

The last community-based cases were discovered in a residential setting on Vu Tong Phan Street, Tho Quang Ward, Son Tra District. This person’s infection had been confirmed via large-scale testing in Thuan Phuoc seafood company.

The cases recorded on Thursday were linked to nine chains of infection, six of which are highly transmissible.

In particular, 22 out of the 26 cases of COVID-19 in were likely to spread to the community, recorded in six out of  the total seven districts, namely Hoa Vang with ten cases, Thanh Khe with four, Son Tra with three, Lien Chieu and Hai Chau with two each, and Ngu Hanh Son with one.

Also on Wednesday, a combined total of 9,960 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 8,381 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

There are currently 78 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 876 households with a combined total of 3,651 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 1,161 people are put under compulsory quarantine in 17 centralised facilities.
Up to now, 1,419,768 out of the already received 1,511,206 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to Da Nang residents.

Of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 903,622 have received the first shots of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 516,146 have got the second jabs against the highly contagious disease.

Da Nang has recorded 396 positive cases since October 16 when the current coronavirus wave started hitting it.
