Da Nang detects 8 community infections of COVID-19 and 26 cases in managed isolation on Nov. 16

Da Nang recorded 34 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, November 16, eight of which were found in the community, seven in local centralised quarantine facilities,17 during at-home quarantine, and the remaining one each in a sealed-off residential site and at a quarantine checkpoint set up at the city’s gateway, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control confirmed.

Here is need-to-know information on the eight community cases:

The first two community-acquired cases were residents in A6 apartment building based in residential group 56, Nai Hien Dong Ward, Son Tra District. The duo were confirmed to contract the coronavirus through the ongoing mass testing applied to all local household representatives, also known as ‘One door- One test’ campaign.

Another community case was a dweller at K442 Hoang Dieu, Binh Thuan Ward, Hai Chau District. This person went to the Da Nang-based Hospital 199 under the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 there. The source of infection has not been identified.

There were two cases logged in Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District. One was a driver operating on the Da Nang - Ha Tinh - Ho Chi Minh City with his permanent residence on Bau Mac 5 Street, having tested positive for the virus at the private Y Duc clinic. The other was an inhabitant in residential group No. 28. This person had been exposed to a previously-confirmed patient before.

Two inhabitants in My An Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District were confirmed to be infected with the virus, with one on Tran Van Du Street whilst the other at K18 Nguyen Van Thoai.

The last community-based case was a resident on Ton Dan Street, Hoa Phat Ward, Cam Le District. The patient was a driver travelling on the Da Nang - Lao Bao, Quang Tri Province route.

Also on Tuesday, a combined total of 45,630 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 43,780 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

There are currently 51 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 511 households with a combined total of 2,199 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 1,361 people are put under compulsory quarantine in 18centralised facilities.

Up to now, 1,357,613 out of the already received 1,511,206 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to Da Nang residents.

Of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 903,604 have received the first shots of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 454, 009 have got the second jabs against the highly contagious disease.

Da Nang has recorded 4,890 positive cases since July 10 when the current coronavirus wave started hitting it.
