Da Nang recorded 60 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, November 24, 25 of which were found in the community, ten in local centralised quarantine facilities, 23 during at-home quarantine, one in a locked-down residential site and the remaining one from outside the city, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said in its latest bulletin.

Of special note, out of the total 25 cases acquired in the community, nine were detected through mass testing applied to staff of the Huu Nghi company where a positive case of coronavirus had previously been found.

Also, many community-based patients intentionally went in-person to some medical facilities citywide for COVID-19 testing following the displaying of some suspicious symptoms and they then tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 there. In detail, the Phuc Khang Medical Centre detected one case, the Tam Tri Hospital with two, the 199 Hospital with four, and An Duc, Hoa Khanh and Y Duc clinics, the Hoan My Da Nang Hospital, and the Son Tra and Thanh Khe district-level medical centres with one each.

A stall holder operating at Chinh Gian Market (Thanh Khe District), an employee at the Viet Hoa company and a returnee to Da Nang from the south-central province of Phu Yen were also confirmed to contract the virus.

In particular, 48 out of the 60 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday were highly likely to spread to the community, recorded in the total seven districts, namely Hai Chau with 12 cases, Son Tra and Cam Le with 10 each, Thanh Khe with nine, Lien Chieu with five, and Hoa Vang and Ngu Hanh with one each.

Also on Wednesday, a combined total of 24,928 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 23,143 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Up to now, 11.556.310 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to Da Nang residents.

Of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 939,212 have received the first shots of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 617,098 have got the second jabs against the highly contagious disease.

There are currently 133 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 1,056 households with a combined total of 4,433 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 860 people are put under compulsory quarantine in 18 centralised facilities.

Da Nang has recorded 660 infections, 77 of which were returnees from other cities and provinces nationwide, since October 16 when the city saw the resurgence of COVID-19 community-based cases.
