Da Nang documents 5 community cases of COVID-19 and 21 in managed isolation on Nov.13

Da Nang logged 26 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, November 13, five of which were found in the community, 11 in the city-designated centralised quarantine facilities, 7 during mandatory at-home quarantine, two at locked-down residential sites and the remaining one at the city’s gateway checkpoint, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control confirmed.

Here is need-to-know information on the five community-based cases:

The first community case was a resident onTran Van Du Street, My An Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District). Upon his arrival in Da Nang from the southern province of Binh Thuan, the man went to Cam Le District-based private Tam Tri Da Nang Hospital and tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 there.

The second was an inhabitant on Hoang Quoc Viet Street, Nai Hien Dong Ward, Son Tra District. He went to the Da Nang-based 199 Hospital under the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and was confirmed to contract the virus there following the displaying of some suspicious symptoms.

The third was a dweller on To Hien Thanh Street, Phuoc My Ward, Son Tra District, having returned from the coronavirus-hit southern metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City. The patient was diagnosed with the highly contagious disease via a test conducted at the 199 Hospital.

The remaining two were residents on Le Tan Trung Street, Tho Quang Ward, Son Tra District. The duo went to the Da Nang Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital for regular medical examination and then test positive for the virus there.

The cases recorded on Saturday were related to eight infection chains and seven of them are assessed to be at a high risk of further spreading, mainly concentrated in districts of Son Tra, Thanh Khe, Lien Chieu and Ngu Hanh Son.

On the same day, a combined total of 11,846 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 10,866 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

In addition, rapid antigen tests were applied to 227 returnees at the city’s gateway checkpoints.

There are currently 60 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 643 households with a combined total of 2,652 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 1,251people are put under compulsory quarantine in 17 centralised facilities.

Da Nang has recorded 4,950 positive COVID-19 cases since July 10 when the current COVID-19 wave started here.
