Vice Chairwoman Yen highlighted efforts to take swift and effective actions to deal with the emergence and control of new cases, especially community cases, in recent days, by the health agency and authorities at local level.

They focused their efforts to conduct rapid contact tracing and timely isolation of primary close contacts, as well as seal off high-risk areas related to confirmed cases in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus, Mrs Yen remarked.

She stated that the city could see the rise in new infections related to cases with unknown source in coming days, thereby asking authorities at local level and relevant agencies to continue to comply with COVID-19 control measures in line with the current direction. The focus must be on tracing and testing those who are at higher risk of exposure to COVID-19, and ensuring the safety in designated quarantine facilities and lockdown areas, Mr Yen emphasised.

Vice Chairwoman Yen stressed the need for enhanced enforcement of COVID-19 rules to take action against violators.

The municipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development was tasked to work with relevant agencies to quickly identify all contacts of an active case detected in the Tho Quang Fishing Wharf in order to conduct coronavirus testing for them in an attempt to enhance the speed of case detection, isolation and early treatment.

Heed must be paid to keeping a close watch on fishermen aboard fishing boats from other localities that dock at the Tho Quang Fishing Wharf, and applying health declaration and quarantine rules to them in line with the city’s COVID-19 regulations.

Mrs Yen said that some eating and drinking establishments were found not to be in full compliance with COVID-19 regulations, especially the 5K recommendations of the Ministry of Health. She directed the Son Tra District authorities to conduct investigations of Le Gia 2 restaurant’s violations in compliance with the city’s regulations after two COVID-19 cases were detected. Strictest penalities must be imposed for non-compliance, the city leader remarked.
