Deputy Secretary Triet stated that recent days have witnessed a rise in COVID-19 cases in Da Nang with some community cases from unknown source despite the fact that the city has moved quickly to reach high vaccine coverage.

He called on everyone across Da Nang to do everything they can to keep themselves and others safe.

Authorities at local level and the heath agency were asked to create an accurate risk assessment to enable appropriate measures to be taken in an attempt to stop the spread of the virus. The health agency and related units were tasked to conduct a thorough analysis of recent cases in order to help the city take effective measures to curtail the resurgence of COVID-19 cases. The focus must be on developing action plan to effectively cure COVID-19 infection, Mr Triet emphasized.

The reopening of drinking and eating establishments also poses COVID-19 threat to the city. Mr Triet, therefore, highlighted the need for strict compliance with the recommended precautionary measures among owners of these venues and their customers. In fact, some establishments were found to have failed to comply with the 5K recommendations of the Ministry of Health.

Deputy Secretary Triet also stressed the need to enhance enforcement of QR code check-in rules in drinking and eating establishments, and take action against violations of the rules. The heed must be paid on upholding the role of COVID-19 Community Taskforce in keeping a close watch on people entering and returning to Da Nang from other parts of the country.

Mr Triet said that the Da Nang government will continue to provide financial support to people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic with a focus on taking all necessary measures to ensure timely and equitable access for struggling persons in order to ensure no one is left behind.

Municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh affirmed that strict compliance with the 5K recommendations of the Ministry of Health among local residents is very important to the city to effectively control the spread of the virus.

Mr Chinh highlighted the need for enhanced monitoring and surveillance of such high-risk areas as wet markets, fishing ports, and industrial parks. In addition, health department officials and tracers were asked to ramp up contact tracing of new confirmed cases and quickly isolate all their primary close contacts in efforts to suppress the virus.

He remarked that the citywide schools will continue online instruction amid the complex developments of COVID-19. The municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control will decide whether to reopen schools based on considering the benefits and risks across education, public health and socio-economic factors, in the local context, Mr Chinh said.
