Da Nang logged 18 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, November 14, one of which were found in the community, four in the city-designated quarantine facilities, seven during mandatory at-home quarantine, five at locked-down residential areas and the remaining one at the city’s gateway checkpoint, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control confirmed.

It is encouraging that today Da Nang is witnessing a decrease in the daily count of community-based cases as compared to previous days.

The only one community-acquired case was a resident at K96 Dien Bien Phu, Chinh Gian Ward, Thanh Khe District, having returned from the coronavirus-hit southern metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City on flight QH172 on November 10. This person then tested positive for SARS-CoV-2.

The cases recorded on Sunday were related to seven highly contiguous infection chains. In particular, eight out of the 18 cases are likely to spread further in the community, mainly concentrated in Son Tra District (6 cases) and Thanh Khe District (2 cases).

On the same day, a combined total of 5,497 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 4,747 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

There are currently 61 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 643 households with a combined total of 2,652 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 1,202 people are put under compulsory quarantine in 17 centralised facilities.

Da Nang has recorded 286 positive COVID-19 cases since October 16.
