Da Nang planning for return of field hospital No.1 to prepare for potential COVID-19 surges
Doctor Truong Van Trinh, the Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Health, has announced that the health agency is once again making plans to reopen the COVID-19 field hospital No. 1 at the Student Hall of Residence in the west of the city located at 507 Nguyen Luong Bang Street, Hoa Hiep Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District after a temporary closure. This is a precautionary move if numbers of cases and hospitalizations continue to rise in the coming time, Mr Trinh said.
The field hospital is getting its facilities ready to accept COVID-19 patients in order to prepare for potential COVID-19 surges in the coming time. However, Block F, the main building of the Student Hall of Residence, will be reopened first for COVID-19 patients in order to save resources.
The field hospital will provide treatment mainly for asymptomatic patients and those with mild to moderate symptoms. In addition, the hospital is preparing its beds, human resources, and medical equipment to provide emergency care for patients with severe COVID-19 before being transferred to the Lung Hospital for further treatment.
The Lung Hospital is urged to prepare to accept patients with severe COVID-19 who are being transferred from other healthcare facilities in Da Nang. The heed must be paid on arranging separate areas for patients with tuberculosis and lung disease in order to help reduce the risk of cross infection in the hospital.
The Hoa Vang District Medical Center will continue its normal operations to provide checkups and treatment for non-COVID-19 patients in addition to preparing a 20-bed treatment area for patients with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 requiring dialysis treatment and surgical care.
