Da Nang on Tuesday morning, November 2, began to roll out its coronavirus vaccination program to students aged 15 to 17.

Close to 46,000 eligible students will be offered a first dose of COVID-19 vaccine from November 2 – 5 as part of the continued expansion of Da Nang's COVID-19 vaccination rollout program. This move will help protect young people from catching COVID-19, and is expected to prevent disruption in schools by reducing transmission.

Since early morning of Tuesday, hundreds of students aged 15 to 17 have gone to the COVID-19 vaccination site to get vaccinated according to CDC’s recommended immunization schedule.

Under the direction from the Da Nang government, the health agency has worked with authorities at local level to set up 16 vaccination locations across the city to offer the coronavirus vaccine to eligible students.

All the venues will do temperature checks on people before entry allowing space for social distancing and a 30-minute recovery time. Strictest health and safety measures, especially the 5K recommendations of the Ministry of Health, are being put in place at vaccination sites.

Beneficiaries are required to undergo medical checks for eligibility, and they are provided with medical advice and post-vaccination observation.

A resuscitation area is available in each location where vaccines are being given, and health workers are prepared to treat immediate allergic reactions after vaccination.

All young people aged 15 to 17 in Da Nang will be offered the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine that is safe for them based on the Ministry of Health’s recommendations through the school immunisation programme, and they will have the same vaccine for both doses.

Eligible students have their temperature checked before entering the vaccination site.

Beneficiaries are required to undergo medical checks for eligibility.

The 15 to under 18-year-olds will be offered the Pfizer vaccine which has been approved by the Ministry of Health.

Eligible students feel calm, relaxed and comfortable when receiving a COVID-19 booster shot. They are willing to voluntarily comply with public health recommendations designed to protect themselves and others from COVID-19.

Following the vaccination, all recipients will be required to remain in an observation area for at least 30 minutes to make sure there are no adverse reactions in line with the Ministry of Health’s guidance.
