The meeting which was chaired by Chairman Chinh and attended by members of the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control along with officials from relevant agencies aimed to identify the most effective ways to tackle rising COVID-19 cases.

Mr Chinh highlighted the need for authorities at local level to take appropriate measures to effectively respond to local outbreaks in line with the guidelines from the national and municipal governments.  The focus must be on identifying accurately high-risk areas related to confirmed cases, conducting comprehensive contact tracing of each confirmed case, quickly testing and isolating high-risk patients who have been exposed to COVID-19 patients in a bid to prevent the spread of the virus.

Currently, production facilities, business and service establishments are allowed to resume normal operations in the new normal amid COVID-19. Therefore, non-compliance with COVID-19 guidelines in these venues will pose virus threat to our community, Mr Chinh remarked.

Chairman Chinh stressed the need to enhance compliance monitoring and enforcement of QR code check-in rules in crowded places, production facilities, eating and drinking establishments. The heed must be on educating the public on the city’s guidelines for strict observance of COVID-19 protocols to keep themselves and other safe and healthy during the pandemic, as well as taking action against violations of the city’s COVID-19 regulations.

Mr Chinh took the opportunity to praise the taskforces staffing at COVID-19 checkpoints for their efforts to tighten controls at entry points and increase checks on people entering and returning to the city from COVID-19 affected areas.

Chairman Chinh said that the municipal government will continue to provide financial support to those affected by COVID-19 in order to ensure no one is left behind.
