The instruction was made by Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People's Council Le Minh Trung during his actual inspection visits on November 17 to aquaculture structures built spontaneously and illegally on Man Quang Bay in Son Tra District, Co Co River in Ngu Hanh Son District, and Cam Le River in Cam le District.

During his visits, Vice Chairman Trung highly lauded great efforts and determination made by the Son Tra District authorities in supporting local fishermen to dismantle their illegal aquaculture structures on Man Quang Bay. Till date, only 50 out of the total 533 illegal fish cages on the Bay have yet to be demolished.

Mr Trung suggested Son Tra District continue to promote its achieved results and call for residents to consume backlogged farmed seafood in a bid to quickly complete the dismantlement of the remaining cages, thereby setting a model for other localities to follow.

He also urged other localities to coordinate with Son Tra District to drastically and synchronously handle this situation to prevent fishermen from moving their cages to neighbouring localities to avoid administrative penalties.

When taking with fishermen, Vice Chairman Trung reaffirmed the city's consistent policy that no fish and shellfish aquaculture farms have been allowed to be built on rivers and coastal bays to ensure the environment, water sources and landscapes for the city. He, therefore, asked the district authorities and fishermen to strictly obey the city's policy on ending aquaculture cages on rivers and bays in 2021.

Head of the Urban Committee of the municipal People's Council Nguyen Thanh Tien asked the district authorities to complete the dismantlement of remaining illegal structures no later than December 5, 2021.
