In late April, the Son Tra District authorities ordered the demolition of the illegal aquaculture structures on the Man Quang Bay.
Up to now, many fish cages have already been dismantled. Meanwhile, a few fishermen have asked for permission from the district authorities to delay the clearing of the remaining illegal structures to harvest farmed fish.
However, as of November 9 morning, a total of 59 illegal aquaculture structures in Tho Quang and Nai Hien Dong wards have yet to be dismantled.
With the active support from the wards’ functional bodies, 20 out of the 59 illegal fish cages on the Bay had already been demolished.
The district authorities have also agreed to extend the dismantlement deadline for the remaining fish cages, as well as called on businesses and residents to support seafood consumption.
In particular, the Nai Hien Dong Ward People's Committee asked fishermen to gather their products at the end of Ho Han Thuong Street on the morning of November 10 for sale.
Meanwhile, associations, mass organizations, agencies and units across Son Tra District are calling for residents to consume backlogged farmed seafood.
