The sampling, conducted in a prompt fashion, came after the detection of an active case of COVID-19 relating to some a seafood trader who came to the Tho Quang fishing wharf from late November 1 to the morning of November 2.

This patient, as reported, has received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. However, she had a high concentration of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, so the possibility of community transmission is high, local medical experts warned.

According to the Son Tra District Medical Centre, if new infections are detected in the coming time, focus will be placed on urgently tracking down as many primary and secondary coronavirus contacts as possible, implementing narrow blockade measures and mass testing.

Head of the Authority of the Tho Quang fishing wharf, Mr Huynh Van Phuong said that all seafood traders, drivers and labourers onboard fishing boats entering the wharf are required to strictly comply with regulations on COVID-19 prevention and control.

Under the rules, all of them shall have to make mandatory medical declarations, have their QR codes for entrance scanned and test negative for the virus before entering the wharf for seafood trading activities.

Previously, on October 1, the Tho Quang fishing wharf officially reopened after two months of closure for COVID-19 prevention.

Till date, about 99% of the dwellers in the district have received the first doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
