141 new COVID-19 cases reported in Da Nang on Dec. 7, including 71 community infections
Da Nang’s COVID-19 daily caseload has continued to rise with 141 new cases confirmed on Tuesday, December 7, bringing the city’s total tally to 1,838 since October 16 when the city saw the resurgence of COVID-19 community-based cases.
It is concerning that 71 out of the 141 new infections were acquired in the community, the highest number recorded on a single day over recent months, raising public fear over further spread of the virus, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said.
Amongst the 71 community-acquired patients, there were 27 infections in Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District detected via mass testing for COVID-19 applied to local household representatives, known as the ‘One door- one test’ campaign, five found via rapid antigen tests, one at Hoa Khanh Market infected with the virus, four logged at Thuan Phuoc Company and one at the Hanvi Vina Company.
The remaining community-acquired patients tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 through tests conducted at some medical facilities citywide.
In detail, four cases were each detected at the Y Duc Medical Clinic, the An Duc Clinic and the Lien Chieu District Medical Centre, three each at the Son Tra District Medical Centre, the Hoan My Hospital and the Da Nang Eye Hospital, two each at the Da Nang Oncology Hospital, the Hospital 199 under the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security and the Da Nang General Hospital, and one each at the health stations of Hoa Khanh Nam and Hoa Minh wards, the Thien Nhan and Hoa Khanh clinics, and the Da Nang Maternity - Pediatrics Hospital.
Apart from the detection of 71 community infections as above mentioned, the city logged 70 cases found under managed isolation: four infections in centralised quarantine facilities and 66 during at-home quarantine.
In particular, 119 out of the 141 cases were likely to spread to the community, local experts warned.
During the day, some infection chains continued to record many new cases such as Thuan Phuoc Company, Hoa Khanh Market, an apartment to the south the Cam Le Bridge, K317 Nguyen Phuoc Nguyen and residential group No. 33 in An Hai Bac Ward, Son Tra District.
Amongst the local districts, Lien Chieu recorded the highest number of COVID-19 infections on Tuesday with 70, followed Son Tra with 23, Hoa Vang with 22, Thanh Khe with 10, Cam Le with six, Hai Chau with three. In particular, Ngu Hanh Son recorded no new cases on the same day.
