Da Nang documented an additional 135 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, December 28, of which 63 cases were acquired in the community and the remainder were logged under managed isolation.

Nine out of the 63 community-acquired patients documented on Tuesday were traders operating at the Hoa Cuong wholesale market, one of the latest coronavirus infection clusters to have been discovered in the city.

Meanwhile, the rest were locals who were positive for the coronavirus through tests conducted at some public and private medical facilities citywide during their intentional visits there for regular medical checkups or COVID-19 tests due to the displaying of suspicious symptoms.

In addition to the detection of the aforementioned community transmission cases, the city discovered 72 infections in managed isolation: 11 at a centralised quarantine facility, 50 during at-home quarantine and 11 in locked-down residential sites.

Of the day's newly count, 91 cases were at a high risk of further community transmission.

Also on Tuesday, a combined total of 16,785 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 14,484 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Till date, of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 971,642 have received the first jabs of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 949,738 have got two doses, and 614 have received the third shots against the highly contagious disease.

There are currently 421 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 1,046 households with a combined total of 5,082 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 353 people are being put under compulsory quarantine in 14 centralised facilities.

The latest infections has pushed Da Nang’s total tally to 5,737 since October 16 when the city saw the resurgence of COVID-19 community transmission, 198 of which were returnees from other cities and provinces nationwide.
