The Son Tra District authorities on Thursday morning announced that the district is implementing a pilot programme for the installation of QR code display boards on street name posts across the district in line with the direction from the Da Nang government on developing the district into a contemporary urban centre, a key tourist destination and marine economic centre of Da Nang. The intention is to assist tourists and local residents in searching for destination information.

QR code display boards will be installed on 111 street name posts across 30 major roads in Son Tra District.

Galvanized Steel QR code display board has a length of 18cm and a width of 12cm, on a blue reflective background with white letters in both Vietnamese and English. The installation work is expected to be completed on December 25.

The use of QR codes is becoming a trend to simplify the provision of information to tourists based on the application of information technology while saving publications containing traditional information that has been used in printing.

By using smartphones, people can rely on these QR codes to search for information about tourist destinations in a simple and convenient way.

Tourists just need to turn on the application and use their phone to scan the QR code affixed to tourist destinations, and the phone screen will display detailed information about the tourist attractions in Da Nang.

Initially, detailed information about Da Nang tourism will be displayed in Vietnamese. In 2022, Son Tra District will expand the installation of QR code display boards into more roads, and add English in displayed information.
