Da Nang confirms 169 new cases of COVID-19 on Dec.21, including 65 acquired in community

Da Nang reported a further 169 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, December 21, of which 65 were acquired in the community and the remainder were logged under managed isolation, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said.

Among the 65 community-acquired patients documented on Monday, there were two employees at the Eurowindow Company, five at the Chau Da Co., Ltd, four at the SEADANANG, one at the PIVINA Company, one police officer at the Son Tra District Police Station, one employee from the Da Nang Party Committee and 14 infections found via rapid antigen tests.

Meanwhile, the rest were local dwellers who were positive for SARS-CoV-2 through tests conducted at some public and private medical facilities citywide during their intentional visits there for COVID-19 tests due to the displaying of suspicious symptoms.

In addition to the detection of the aforementioned cases of community transmission on Tuesday, the city documented 105 infections in managed isolation: 12 at a centralised quarantine facility, 70 during at-home quarantine and 22 in locked-down residential site.

Of special note, of the day's tally, 134 cases were at a high risk of further community transmission.

The day also recorded some notable chains of infection such as residential group No. 26, Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District with 12 cases, alley K339 Tran Cao Van, Xuan Ha Ward, Thanh Khe District with seven, Blue House apartment and the Chau Da Company Limited with six each and the Matrix Company with five.

Also on Tuesday, a combined total of 17,414 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 16,274 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Till date, of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 967,473 have received the first jabs of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 946,040 have got two doses, and 527 have received the third shots against the highly contagious disease.

There are currently 381 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 1,499 households with a combined total of 6,899 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 359 people are being put under compulsory quarantine in 16 centralised facilities.

Da Nang’s total tally has climbed to 4,683 since October 16 when the city saw the resurgence of COVID-19 community transmission, 179 of which were returnees from other cities and provinces nationwide
