Da Nang logged 206 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, December 13, over half as many as the figure one day earlier.  In detail, there were 55 infections acquired in the community, 16 logged at centralised quarantine facilities, 93 during at-home quarantine and the remaining 42 in locked-down residential sites, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control announced.

Among the 55 community-acquired patients, there were 10 coronavirus-infected employees of the Matrix Company, two infections detected respectively via mass testing rollouts applied to local household representatives, known as the ‘One door- one test’ campaign in Hai Chau District’s Nam Duong Ward  and Cam Le District’s Hoa An Ward, and 14 found via rapid antigen tests.

The remaining community-acquired patients were local dwellers who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 through tests conducted at some medical facilities citywide during their visits there for COVID-19 tests or regular medical checkups.

In particular, 119 out of the 206 cases were at a high risk of further community transmission, local experts warned.

During the day, there were several high-risk infection chains such as Matrix Company with 18 cases, Thanh Vinh 5 Street, Hoa Khanh Bac Ward with six, residential group No. 28, An Hai Bac Ward, Son Tra District with nine, Hoa Lu Street in Nai Hien Dong Ward with seven.

Amongst the local districts, Son Tra logged the highest number of COVID-19 infections on Monday with 71, followed by Lien Chieu with 57, Thanh Khe with 29, Hai Chau with 19, Hoa Vang with 15 and Cam Le with 13. There was only one patient who was a returnee from another Vietnamese locality.

Particularly, Ngu Hanh Son District did not record any new cases.

Also on the same day, a combined total of 31, 845 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 28,977 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Till date, of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 966,581 have received the first shots of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 908,806 have got two doses against the highly contagious disease.

There are currently 266 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 1,412 households with a combined total of 9,526 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 514 people are being put under compulsory quarantine in 18 centralised facilities.

Da Nang’s total tally has risen to 3, 218 since October 16 when the city saw the resurgence of COVID-19 community transmission, 148 of which were returnees from other cities and provinces nationwide
