Having coughed up a lot of blood, the patient residing in Hai Chau 2 Ward, Hai Chau District was rushed to the Da Nang Lung Hospital for treatment. Here, the patient was diagnosed with mycosis of the right lung on the background of existing tuberculosis.

The patient had suffered from pulmonary tuberculosis since the age of 13. In 2018, he had a relapse of tuberculosis, continued to cough up blood, and had to be treated for tuberculosis for nine months. Then, he was immediately transferred to the Da Nang C Hospital.

Through examinations and performing paraclinical techniques, the patient was diagnosed with fungus balls in the upper and lower lobes of the right lung. The patient underwent surgery to remove the upper lobe of the right lung and a segment of the lower lobe, along with fungus balls.

Postoperatively, the patient was in stable health, the incision was dry whilst there were no symptoms of shortness of breath and cough. The patient has been discharged from the hospital after the operation.

According to doctor Vo Dac Truyen, Deputy Director of the Da Nang C Hospital, hemoptysis is a common clinical symptom of aspergilloma and can lead to fatal asphyxiation. Coughing up blood can range from mild to very severe levels, affecting the patient's life.
