Da Nang reports further 194 COVID-19 patients on Dec. 17

COVID-19 daily caseload reached 194 on Friday, December 17, of which 65 were acquired in the community, 25 at centralised quarantine facilities, 88 during at-home quarantine, eight in locked-down residential sites, and eight fishermen tested positive after going ashore, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said.

Among the 65 community-acquired patients documented on Friday, there were eight employees at the Niwa Ryo Company, two labourers at the Da Son slaughterhouse, two patients visiting the Oncology Hospital for checkups, once medical staffer each at Hoa Lien Commune Health Station and Oncology Hospital. In particular, a resident dwelling in alley K222A Tran Cao Van tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 after his/her death.

The remaining community-acquired patients were local dwellers who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 through tests conducted at some medical facilities citywide during their visits there for COVID-19 tests due to the displaying of suspicious symptoms.

In particular, of the day's tally, 127 cases were at a high risk of further community transmission.
The day also recorded some notable chains of infection such as the Matrix company with seven, the Thuan Phuoc Company with three, residential group No. 1 in Phuoc My Ward, Son Tra District, residential group No. 73 in Thanh Vinh, Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District and alley K266 Hoang Dieu, Binh Hien Ward, Hai Chau District with four each. 

Amongst the local districts, Son Tra documented the highest number of COVID-19 infections on Friday with 66, followed by Lien Chieu with 46, Thanh Khe with 22, Hai Chau with 17, Hoa Vang with 15, Cam Le with 10 and Ngu Hanh Son with six. There were also 12 coronavirus-infected returnees from other cities and provinces nationwide.

Also on the same day, a combined total of 18,824 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 17,318 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Till date, of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 966,830 have received the first jabs of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 921,904 have got two doses, and 467 have received the third shots against the highly contagious disease.

There are currently 249 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 1,280 households with a combined total of 5,540 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 408 people are being put under compulsory quarantine in 18 centralised facilities.

The number of new cases mentioned above has pushed Da Nang’s total tally to 4,036 since October 16 when the city saw the resurgence of COVID-19 community transmission, 163 of which were returnees from other cities and provinces nationwide
