Da Nang' s daily COVID-19 tally stands at 193 on Dec.18

Da Nang’s COVID-19 newly daily caseload reached 193 on Saturday, December 18, of which 57 were acquired in the community, seven at centralised quarantine facilities, 102 during at-home quarantine and the remaining 24 in locked-down residential sites, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said.

Among the 57 community-acquired patients, there were three employees at the Fujikura Company, one worker each at the Eurowindow Company and the Da Son slaughterhouse, one member of the Hai Chau District COVID-19 prevention and control force, and one medical worker each at the Da Nang Hospital and the Da Nang-based Hospital 199 under the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security. Also, there were six infections found via rapid antigen tests.

The remaining community-acquired patients were local dwellers who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 through tests conducted at some medical facilities citywide during their intentional visits there for COVID-19 tests due to the displaying of suspicious symptoms.

In particular, of the day's tally, 118cases were at a high risk of further community transmission.
The day also recorded some notable chains of infection such as alley K2 Nguyen The Loc, An Hai Bac Ward, Son Tra District with nine cases, the Thuan Phuoc Company with seven,  alley  K45 Tran Duc, Hoa Khanh Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District with six, 122-152 Huynh Ly, Thuan Phuoc Ward, Hai Chau District with five and the Fujikura Company with three.

Amongst the local districts, Son Tra documented the highest number of COVID-19 infections on Saturday with 79, followed by Lien Chieu with 30, Thanh Khe with 27, Hai Chau with 25, Cam Le with 15, Hoa Vang with eight and Ngu Hanh Son with three. Also, there were six coronavirus-infected returnees from other cities and provinces nationwide.

Also on the same day, a combined total of 15,373  local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 14,047 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Till date, of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 966,856 have received the first jabs of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 922,807 have got two doses, and 467 have received the third shots against the highly contagious disease.

There are currently 311 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 1,465 households with a combined total of 6,270 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 408 people are being put under compulsory quarantine in 18 centralised facilities.

The number of new cases mentioned above has pushed Da Nang’s total tally to 4,229 since October 16 when the city saw the resurgence of COVID-19 community transmission, 169 of which were returnees from other cities and provinces nationwide
