Among the 55 community-acquired patients, there were 34 infections detected via mass testing rollouts applied to local household representatives, known as the ‘One door- one test’ campaign in Hoa Khanh Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District, three at the March 29 Textile and Garment Company, one each at the KANE- M, VINAKAD, PIVINA and Dai Dong Quang companies, one from a COVID-19 prevention and control force in Hoa Hiep Nam Ward, Lien Chieu District, and four found via rapid antigen tests.

The remaining community-acquired patients were local dwellers who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 through tests conducted at some medical facilities citywide during their visits there for COVID-19 tests or regular medical checkups.

In particular, of the day's tally, 131 cases were at a high risk of further community transmission, local experts warned.

Amongst the local districts, Lien Chieu logged the highest number of COVID-19 infections on Tuesday with 90, followed by Son Tra with 32, Thanh Khe with 13, Hai Chau and Cam Le with 12 each, Hoa Vang with 10 and Ngu Hanh Son with five.  There were two patients having returned from other coronavirus-stricken Vietnamese localities.

Also on the same day, a combined total of 20,877 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 18,297 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Till date, of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 966,683 have received the first shots of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 919,501have got two doses against the highly contagious disease.

There are currently 292 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 1,415 households with a combined total of 9,898 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 465 people are being put under compulsory quarantine in 18 centralised facilities.

The number of new cases mentioned above has pushed Da Nang’s total tally to 3,394 since October 16 when the city saw the resurgence of COVID-19 community transmission, 150 of which were returnees from other cities and provinces nationwide
