Secretary Quang emphasized that the COVID-19 situation in Da Nang remains complicated with the rising number of cases. He remarked that Da Nang has recorded triple digit COVID-19 case count in a day. New cases are linked to such clusters as wet markets, production facilities and healthcare facilities. After Da Nang entered the new normal amid COVID-19, over 2,000 cases have been registered in the city till date.

Mr Quang pointed out that authorities at local level have taken anti-virus measures without drastic action, and even some places have ignored precautionary measures, causing a spike in cases across the city.

The Da Nang top leader stressed the need for the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control to set two important goals for the city’s fight against the deadly disease. The focus must be on taking action to ensure that daily case counts must not exceed 200 and then get the number of daily cases down to double digits while reducing severe cases and deaths tied to COVID-19, Mr Quang emphasized.

Mr Quang directed authorities at local level to take swift and drastic action to suppress the resurgence of local outbreaks.

The Da Nang Party chief also stated the city is seeing a growing number of new clusters of COVID-19 infection cases, thereby urging the health agency to provide active support to authorities at local level to adopt the most effective measures to contain the spread of the virus.

Mr Quang highlighted the need to quickly identify COVID-19 hotspots, as well as ramp up isolating and testing efforts in a bid to slow the spread of the disease.

He also said that the municipal administration will consider resuming in-person instruction for remaining schools in the city, especially primary school pupils on the basis of advice from health and education officials and aspirations of parents of school students in an attempt to ensure safe school reopening in the context of COVID-19.

Municipal People's Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh called on local leadership to enhance measures to tackle rising cases, and follow COVID-19 guidelines in line with the current direction from the municipal government.

The municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control was tasked to set up COVID-19 monitoring teams in order to increase checks on citywide districts. Authorities at local level were instructed to enhance compliance monitoring and enforcement of COVID-19 rules in their locales and take action against any violations of such rules.
