Da Nang reported a further 142 cases of COVID-19 on Monday, December 20, of which 40 were acquired in the community and the remainder were logged under managed isolation, the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control said.

These figures showed a fact that the city saw a decline both in its daily caseload and the number of community-acquired infections as compared to the previous days.

Among the 40 community-acquired patients documented on Monday, there was an employee at the Viet Hoa Company, two staffers at the Deo Ca Company, and nine infections found via rapid antigen tests.

Meanwhile, the rest were local dwellers who were positive for SARS-CoV-2 through tests conducted at some public and private medical facilities citywide during their intentional visits there for COVID-19 tests due to the displaying of suspicious symptoms.

In addition to the detection of the aforementioned cases of community transmission on Sunday, the city documented 102 infections in managed isolation:  one at a centralised quarantine facility, 80 during at-home quarantine and 21 in locked-down residential site.

In particular, of the day's tally, 78 cases were at a high risk of further community transmission.

The day also recorded some notable chains of infection such as alley K266 Hoang Dieu, Binh Hien Ward with three cases, Nai Nghia No. 7 area in Nai Hien Dong Ward with seven and alley K96 Dien Bien Phu in Chinh Gian Ward with five.

Amongst the local districts, Son Tra documented the highest number of COVID-19 infections on Monday with 50, followed by Lien Chieu with 33, Hai Chau with 18, Thanh Khe with 19, Cam Le with nine, Hoa Vang with eight and Ngu Hanh Son with one.

There were also four coronavirus-infected returnees from other cities and provinces nationwide.

Also on Monday, a combined total of 13,965 local residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken for COVID-19 testing, 11,177 of whom tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Till date, of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 966,856 have received the first jabs of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 928,071have got two doses, and 467 have received the third shots against the highly contagious disease.

There are currently 363completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 1,530 households with a combined total of 6,687 people under lockdown.

A combined total of 379 people are being put under compulsory quarantine in 16 centralised facilities.

The number of new cases mentioned above has pushed Da Nang’s total tally to 4,514 since October 16 when the city saw the resurgence of COVID-19 community transmission, 176 of which were returnees from other cities and provinces nationwide
