Many streets left underwater as heavy downpour hits Da Nang

According to Viet Nam’s National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, moderate to heavy rain over the parts from Thua Thien Hue to Quang Ngai, including Da Nang with possibility of very heavy rainfall at some places is likely to continue for Tuesday, December 28. The total rainfall amount is 30mm-60mm in common in these areas while more than 90mm of rain could fall in some places.

Torrential downpour has left many roads in the city underwater, especially a section of Nui Thanh Street in the north of the western end of Tran Thi Ly Bridge, Le Tan Trung and Luong Huu Khanh streets.

Flood watches are issued for rivers in Thua Thien Hue and Quang Nam Tuesday into Wednesday, and flood waters on these rivers are likely to reach alarm level 1 or above.

National forecasters have also issued warnings of flash floods and landslides for mountainous areas, and flooding alerts are in place in low-lying and riverside areas and urban areas in the parts from Thua Thien Hue to Binh Dinh, including Da Nang.

January 1 into January 2, 2022, scattered showers with localized moderate to heavy rainfall are forecast over the parts from Thanh Hoa to Khanh Hoa, including Da Nang. Precipitation could decline on January 3 but scattered showers will continue in the parts from Thua Thien Hue to Khanh Hoa, including Da Nang.
