Da Nang has launched door-to-door COVID-19 vaccination campaign to raise vaccination rates in order to give lifesaving jabs to seniors in final push as many older adults remain unprotected. Mobile clinics have been deployed across the city to deliver coronavirus vaccines directly to older adults who need to get this vaccine but they find it challenging to visit a vaccination site.

Health workers began door-knocking homes in Da Nang on December 25 offering Pfizer vaccinations to seniors in efforts to protect them from the disease and reduce mortality and hospitalization. As a result, 115 people in Son Tra District got their first shots under the ongoing vaccination campaign, and they are residents living in locked down areas, those with underlying health conditions and seniors having difficulties travelling to a vaccination site.

In a similar move, 81 people in Hoa Ninh, Hoa Lien, Hoa Bac, Hoa Son communes, Hoa Vang District, were offered the vaccine on December 25 and 26.

Doctor Nguyen Dai Vinh, the Director of the Hoa Vang District Medical Centre, highlighted great efforts health workers have made to conduct preliminary health checks for fever and blood pressure before administering the vaccine to seniors and provide post-vaccination monitoring for them during the ongoing door-to-door vaccination campaign even though they live scattered in the communes.

Doctor Vinh said that the remainder in the district will get life-saving jabs before December 31.

Overall, a combined total of 4,154 people across Da Nang received their first shots on December 25 and 26.

As of December 27, 949,738 residents in Da Nang have been fully vaccinated, 971,642 have received their first dose, and 614 have got booster shots.
