Mrs Yen noted that the high levels of transmission seen in Da Nang remain concerning, with triple-digit daily COVID-19 cases reported in the city. She said that authorities are very concerned about the hidden cases that are still out there in the community as positive cases have been still detected at healthcare facilities while going for a medical checkup.

Vice Chairwoman Yen urged authorities at local level to conduct comprehensive contact tracing and tighten controls at local locked down areas in a bid to prevent and control cross-transmission of the virus in these high-risk areas and contain the resurgence of local outbreaks.

The health agency was tasked to identify all unvaccinated people across the city in order to offer COVID-19 vaccines to them in addition to delivering booster shots to eligible people with high priority given to healthcare workers. The intention is to help improve the protection they have from their first 2 doses of the vaccine.

Doctor Ton That Thanh, the Director of the municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said that 195 more people were released from Da Nang’s hospitals on Thursday, December 23, after being treated for COVID-19.

Currently, there are 2,133 active cases that are being treated at hospitals.

Da Nang has till date recorded 5,049 cases of COVID-19 after it has faced COVID-19 resurgence since October 16.
