2 men in Da Nang arrested for smashing car windows to steal valuables
Two men residing in Thanh Khe District, Da Nang have been arrested for having smashing car windows to steal properties from inside.
As reported, at the end of November 2021, many cars parked overnight in the city were found broken into with their side windows smashed. Local police officers initially identified Nguyen Anh Thuong as the main suspect.
Before any car break-ins, this male suspect often removed all accessories on his motorbikes and turn off its lights at night to avoid being identified. Once Thuong discovered cars parked unattended overnight on deserted streets, he immediately used carry-on items such as crowbars and wooden sticks to smash the cars' windows to steal the property from inside. After having committed the crime, the subject used tricks to change his costumes, throw away the crime-committing tools and then fled the scene.
Not long ago, Thuong also smashed a car’s side windows in Hoa Quy Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District and stole a mobile phone, a piece of gold, and some identification documents from inside.
On January 1, Thuong enticed his brother-in-law to make a car break-in in Hoa Chau Commune, Hoa Vang District during which the duo stolen a laptop inside the vehicle.
The two subjects confessed to having caused 6 cases of car break-ins and illegally appropriating properties.
It is known that Thuong had a previous conviction for property theft whilst his brother-in-law had a criminal record for organising illegal gambling.
The local police officers are conducting collect documents and consolidate evidence to strictly handle the law-breaking acts of the above-mentioned subjects.
Police also warned drivers to lock their car windows and to avoid leaving valuables inside their cars.
