25 years of raising urban development to new heights in Da Nang

After being separated from the former Quang Nam - Da Nang Province on January 1, 1997, getting through a 25-year journey of construction and development, Da Nang has concentrated as many resources as possible to its fullest potential for urban development. Thanks to this, the city has recorded many big strides in developing a civilized and modern social infrastructure system. In particular, urban planning process received the high consensus of local dwellers from all walks of life.

Comprehensive changes of urban stature

The city has highly focused on developing many modern and large-scale transport infrastructure projects, connecting the inner city and the suburbs in an effective manner.

Many new and modern bridges span over the Han River, creating a unique feature for the city. Along with that, the city has established the Southern Ring Road, the municipal Administrative Center, the Da Nang International Airport’s passenger terminals, the Da Nang - Quang Ngai Expressway and other landmark projects, each of which boasts a unique architectural feature contributing to the creation of the Da Nang brand.

The long coastal route of Nguyen Tat Thanh, Vo Nguyen Giap - Hoang Sa - Truong Sa combined with the Hai Van Road Tunnel conveniently connect tourist spots in Hue City with the Son Tra Peninsula, Hoi An City, thereby creating premise for regional development and linkages.

It can be said that, Da Nang has development urban infrastructure embellishment in a synchronous manner, with many urban technical infrastructure projects continue to be upgraded and improved, this inspiring the urban appearance to make a new development step.

Outstanding urban development policies

On June 17, 2002, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 465/QD-TTg approving the adjustments to the Da Nang Master Plan by 2020, with a vision towards 2030.

On October 16, 2003, the Politburo promulgated Resolution No. 33-QD/TW on the construction and development of Da Nang in the period of industrialisation and modernization.

These are solid foundations to create momentum for a transformation phase of Da Nang urban face. Resolution No. 33-QD/TW assigns the task of building Da Nang into one of the major Vietnamese cities, a big socio-economic centre of Central Viet Nam.

On January 24, 2019, the Politburo issued Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW on the construction and development of Da Nang by 2030, with a vision towards 2045. The resolution opened up a new vision, along with outstanding policies for Da Nang to have the opportunity to make more development breakthroughs.

On March 15, 2021, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 359/QD-TTg approving the adjustments the Da Nang Master Plan by 2030, with a vision towards 2045. This is a golden opportunity for the city to continuously raise the urban development to new heights with even more ambitious tasks and goals.

During its 25 – year journey, Da Nang has gathered a lot of valuable experiences. With all the efforts, Da Nang has always been supported by leaders of the Party, National Assembly and national government in the process of construction and development. Da Nang also has a very solid foundation that is the high consensus of local people.

Despite many ups and downs during the way of urban development, the people of Da Nang have always shown their confidence in all of the decisions and policies adopted by the municipal authorities for the common goal of building a modern beautiful, peaceful, and civilised Da Nang.
