Da Nang documented 865 coronavirus infections on Saturday, January 29, of which 639 were found in the community, one logged at local centralised quarantine establishments and the 235 remaining ones found during at-home quarantine periods.

Of the aforementioned community-acquired cases, 397 were detected through tests at public and private medical facilities citywide during their intentional visits there for regular medical checkups.

Meanwhile, 208 patients were found to be contract the coronavirus via rapid tests conducted by the staff of ward/commune-levelled medical stations.

The remaining community-based patients comprised 26 traders at the Thanh Khe, Tuy Loan and Man Thai markets, four returnees to Da Nang from other coronavirus-stricken localities nationwide, three employees working at many local production and business establishments and one medical worker.

Cases with a high risk of further community transmission were recorded at all local districts: 138 in Hai Chau, 132 in Lien Chieu, 108 in Thanh Khe, 93 in Hoa Vang, 74 in Cam Le, 66 in Son Tra and 24 in Ngu Hanh Son. 

Also on the same day, a combined total of 5, 650 residents across the city had their nasal swab samples taken by the local medical staff for COVID-19 testing, of whom 3,197 tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Till date, 2,169,219 shots of vaccines against COVID-19 have been administered across the city. Of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 980,979 have received the first jab, whilst 961,757 have got the second dose, and 226,465 have accessed the third shot against the highly contagious disease.S
