943 new cases of COVID-19 logged in Da Nan on Jan.18

Da Nang documented 943 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, January 18, of which 607 were acquired in the community, three in centralised quarantine facilities, 283 during at-home quarantine and the 50 remaining ones in locked-down residential sites.

Of the aforementioned community-acquired cases, 391 were detected through tests at public and private medical facilities citywide during their intentional visits there for regular medical checkups.

Meanwhile, 155 patients were found to be contract the coronavirus via rapid tests conducted by the staff of ward/ commune-levelled medical stations.

Also 34 infections were logged at many local production and business establishments via periodic tests.

As for the remaining community-based infections, a combined total of 26 traders operating at the Con and Nam O markets and one member of a local COVID-19 prevention and control task group were also confirmed to contract the coronavirus.

Of the day’s active caseload, 865 cases were at a high risk of further community transmission recorded at all local districts, especially 200 in Son Tra, 190 in Lien Chieu, 135 in Hai Chau, 131 in Thanh Khe, 115 in Cam Le, 58 in Hoa Vang and 36 in Ngu Hanh Son.

Tuesday also saw a combined total of 19,823 residents across the city have their nasal swab samples taken by the local medical staff for COVID-19 testing, of whom 15,310 tested for the virus via the RT-PCR technique whilst the rest were subject to the rapid antigen testing.

Till date, of the vaccinated people throughout Da Nang, 977,405 have received the first jab of COVID-19 vaccines whilst 960,785 have got two doses, and 188,72 have received the third shots against the highly contagious disease.

There are currently 150 completely- blockaded residential areas, putting 550 households with a combined total of 1,530 people under lockdown.

A total of 152 people are being put under compulsory quarantine in seven centralised facilities.
